Sound Publishing is pleased to announce the promotion of Brian Beckley as assistant editor of the Renton Reporter. Brian will assume his new editorial responsibilities Feb 4, 2013.

Brian Beckley began his career in journalism at the upstate New York Community News in 1999, a weekly paper serving the two fastest-growing towns in the Capital Region.

After moving to the Seattle area, Brian was hired by the Puyallup Herald in 2003. Brian next joined the staff of the newly-founded Bonney Lake Courier-Herald in 2005 and helped establish the Courier-Herald as one of the top weekly papers in the region. In the process he won WNPA awards in news, features, photography and column writing.

Brian moved to the Sumner Reporter and next joined the staff of the Kent Reporter before returning to the Bonney Lake Courier-Herald in 2010.

Brian was promoted to the role of interim editor of the Bonney Lake and Enumclaw newspapers in October 2012.

Brian married Emily Cappel Sept. 22 and the couple moved to Renton.

The publisher of the Renton Reporter, Ellen Morrison, said, “we are very happy to welcome Brian to the Renton Reporter staff. Brian will not only be a great resource to our team but, as a resident of Renton, he will be an asset to the community.”
