Sound Publishing is the second-largest commercial cold web printer in the Puget Sound area, printing hundreds of publications from daily newspapers to glossy UV-coated publications. Sound is the state’s 13th largest printer, serving as the printing partner for publishers throughout Washington state. Our full-service printing facility in Everett, Washington, is over 80,000 square feet with easy and quick freeway access.
Our strong combination of newspaper publishing and commercial press experience makes Sound uniquely qualified to handle printing services for our clients. We regularly upgrade equipment to ensure compatibility and the highest quality work. To ensure on-time and uninterrupted service for our clients, our plant has internal redundancies including two computer-to-plate systems, two press lines that can be broken up to run five separate products at the same time, five inserting machines, and a fleet of delivery trucks. In the event of power failures, the plant is backed up by two diesel generators capable of running the entire facility. We have never had an operating disruption.
Our largest press line is specifically designed to facilitate full-color printing on up to 40 tabloid pages in one section. It has auto registration and an auto pre-inking system that gives us built-in systems to assure consistent quality from start to finish.
The quality control on our color printing is ensured through the use of “See Color” digital color proofing software along with our 36-inch Hewlett Packard DesignJet 1050C proof plotters. This proofing system allows us to print color proofs onto the same paper stock that our presses will be using. This system is tied into our pre- inking system through computerized calibration to give us state-of-the art color reproduction.
The Everett plant routinely prints between 1.2 and 2 million impressions per week.
The Everett Regional Printing Facility is located just seven minutes from the I-5 / I-405 interchange with easy and quick access to Seattle, Bellevue and the rest of the Puget Sound area. The plant is just 28 minutes north of downtown Seattle and has easy access for deliveries and pickups. We make regular deliveries from Port Angeles to Bellingham, and from Bellevue, Kirkland and Seattle to Tacoma and Olympia.
