The winners of the 2014 WNPA (Washington Newspaper Publishers Association) Better Newspaper Contest were announced and Sound Publishing, Inc. secured 217 awards. Sixty-nine of those were 1st place, including the coveted General Excellence!
The Daily Herald (Everett) earned a C.B. Blethen Memorial Award for distinguished reporting, the 2014 Associated Press Ted Natt First Amendment Award as well as five awards in the 2014 Associated Press Northwest photo contest.
Nationally, Sound was recognized by LMA (Local Media Association) with 11 awards, receiving 1st place for Best Multimedia Automotive Product, 1st place for 2014 Newspaper of the Year (The Daily Herald) and 2nd place for 2014 Newspaper of the Year (Bainbridge Island Review).
And Seattle Weekly scooped up 5 awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, which included two 1st place winners for Personalities Reporting and Critiques & Reviews.
