Emborski named publisher

4.1.09

Josh O’Connor, Vice President Operations, Sound Publishing East is pleased to announce the appointment of DeAnna Emborski as Publisher of the Marysville Globe, The Arlington Times, The Bellingham Business Journal and the Wenatchee Business Journal. Mrs. Emborski assumed her publishing responsibilities as of today, Wednesday, April 1st, 2009.

DeAnna Emborski began her career at WCXL Radio in Nags Head, N.C. as a Promotions Director. From there DeAnna moved on to the Outer Banks Sentinel Newspaper, a community bi-weekly, as an advertising representative. She won several North Carolina Press Association awards for her successful advertising campaigns. Within three months, DeAnna was promoted to Advertising Sales manager and proudly served the Dade County area for two years.

DeAnna was then recruited by Landmark Papers to go to work for the Virginian Pilot Newspaper, a 190,000-plus daily in Norfolk, Va. For three years DeAnna commuted 1.5 hours each way to work as a Key, Business to Business and, finally, a Major Accounts Sales Executive. She remained with Landmark for five years where she earned many awards including Special Sections Highest Revenue Sales, Sales Consultant International Top Presentation Winner and P.R.I.S.M. Awards - Sales Person of the Year in 2003.

In August 2004, DeAnna was presented a unique and exciting opportunity with Trader Publishing to become General Manager and Advertising Director for two of its Entertainment Division publications, Footnotes - Towing and Recovery News and Racing Milestones, a NASCAR-based publication.

Her husband, John, a Master Chief in the U.S. Navy, received orders in 2005 to Panama City, Fla. So DeAnna and John moved there with their six children. She sought out White Directory Publishers - The Talking Phone Book, the independent yellow page provider in the area. DeAnna was so impressed with the company and its people she proudly accepted a position to join their sales team. For 4.5 years she and the company grew. With the onset of digital media, online advertising, video and the printed yellow pages, the successes of the team also grew and she became Area Manager. DeAnna is proud to say that during her tenure there the sales team made 4 out of 5 Book Revenue Goals and she was named to the President’s Club in 2008.

A year ago her husband received new orders, this time to the Pacific Northwest. She came to Marysville, still under the WDP umbrella of Hearst, as Area Manager for LocalEdge Media, a search engine marketing company.

DeAnna is also the reigning Mrs. Washington International 2009 and will compete for the title of Mrs. International 2009 in Chicago, IL this July.  As a domestic violence survivor herself, she founded the awareness campaign “VICTORY OVER VIOLENCE” to create resources, education and support for domestic violence victims everywhere and supports Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County.  She has also served on committees and/or volunteered for the Navy Ball, American Heart Association – GO Red Campaign, Hospice and Relay for Life.
