Renton and Auburn Reporters focus resources online, reduce publishing frequency
11.25.08
Effective Friday, January 2nd, 2009 the Auburn Reporter and the Renton Reporter will be changing its’ publishing frequency from twice weekly to once per week on Friday.
While many newspapers are concerned about declining readership due to the internet age, both papers are taking the opposite approach - purposefully reducing its frequency of distribution in favor of focusing more resources to publishing an online edition with breaking news content and regular community features that readers have become familiar with in their printed editions.
Both newspapers will stay focused on providing high quality, local editorial content to their readers, and targeted advertising packages to local and national advertisers. “Our goal is to be the preeminent provider of local content and advertising in the Valley,” says Josh O’Connor, Vice President of East Sound Newspaper Operations, Sound Publishing, Inc.
Sound Publishing, Inc. is the largest publisher of community and suburban newspapers in Washington and is also one of the area’s largest commercial web printers. The company operates 30 community and suburban newspapers, two monthly business journals, and 18 Little Nickel and Nickel Ads weekly shoppers throughout Washington and Oregon. Sound also operates web printing facilities in Everett and Bainbridge Island and publishes two editions of the Northwest Navigator for the U.S. Navy.
