The picturesque seaport of Friday Harbor is the business and residential core and county seat of the breathtaking San Juan Islands. San Juan Island residents are among the highest number of boat owners per capita in the country and enjoy golfing and whale watching.

Despite proximity to Bellingham and Seattle, the daily newspapers don’t cover the San Juan Islands. Instead, nearly 100% of households depend on our publications.

The beautiful rural setting makes the San Juans a popular location for vacations and the most expensive real estate market in the state. The Islands are accessible by Washington State Ferry or airplane, and some can only be reached by private boat.
