The Daily World in Aberdeen, Wash., is looking for a City editor. Should be organized and committed to community news on multiple platforms. We are looking for someone who is open to creative ideas to help us make the most of our resources. That could be someone with newsroom management experience, or someone who wants to get some. We see the box as something to think outside of. The “versatile” part of this job description means that along with organizing a news budget, editing copy, assigning stories and developing strategy for coverage, we need someone who will write, take photos, lay out pages using InDesign and who loves the possibilities of digital media. The Daily World is part of the Grays Harbor Newspaper Group, which includes three weekly newspapers. The city editor will help work with the editors of those papers to coordinate shared coverage and content.
Aberdeen is located on Grays Harbor, a large saltwater port on the coast of Washington. We’re 30 minutes from the beach, an hour from the rainforest and Olympic National Park and two hours from Seattle.
Compensation includes medical, vision, life insurance, 401(k) and paid vacation. The Daily World is part of Washington state’s largest newspaper group, Sound Publishing Inc. Email your resume and cover letter addressing how you fit our requirements, along with samples of your writing, photography and design to firstname.lastname@example.org. No phone calls, please.
