Sound Publishing has an immediate opening for an Editor to lead Seattle Weekly into its fifth decade!
The editor will work with a small team of reporters and a regional support staff to tell the cultural and political stories of this rapidly transforming city every day in multiple formats. The job requires a hands-on leader with a minimum of three years’ experience as an editor in a highly productive, digital-first newsroom and a deep knowledge of (and love for) Seattle. It also requires tremendous amounts of patience, resilience, curiosity, and empathy.
The right candidate will be a team player who is comfortable maintaining multiple timelines and budgets, and has experience managing web content and social media, but is willing to pick up the phone or step out to cover the action when necessary. As such, experience with reporting, photography, audio, and video is a big plus. The Editor will also serve as the public face of Seattle Weekly and should be comfortable appearing on panels and at other civic functions.
We offer a competitive hourly wage and benefits package including health insurance, paid time off (vacation, sick, and holidays), and 401K with an employer match.
