General Newspaper Reporter (Sequim, WA)

The award-winning weekly newspaper, the Sequim Gazette, in beautiful Sequim, WA, has an opening for a general assignment reporter. Bring your reporting know-how to a newsroom that’s determined to make a difference. We want a skilled and passionate writer who isn’t afraid to tackle meaty news stories. Experience with photography and Adobe InDesign preferred. Applicants must be able to work in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment, possess excellent writing skills, have a knowledge of community news and be able to write about multiple topics. The ideal candidate is comfortable writing hard news and features, both long-form and short. Must be comfortable using a smartphone in the field to take photos and shoot video. Weekly or daily newspaper experience is preferred, though time worked on student publications and internships will be considered.

Sufficient bandwidth to file developing versions of the same story to the web and print in a single news cycle.
