The Journal of the San Juans has an immediate opening for an Editor in Friday Harbor, Washington. We’re looking for a dynamic leader who wants to make a difference, both in the newsroom and the community. We want someone who is comfortable breaking news, guiding compelling coverage and making the Journal a can’t miss for local readers.
The successful candidate must have a demonstrated interest in local political and cultural affairs, excellent writing and verbal skills, experience with editing reporters’ copy and other submitted materials and proficiency with designing and building pages with Adobe InDesign. They must represent the newspaper in the community and lead, motivate and mentor the editorial staff. There should be a digital leadership component to the job. We’re looking for someone who can help grow our digital platforms, including our news site and social media channels.
