Essential Functions
The primary function of this position is the preparation of offset litho plates for web printing presses.
Basic Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive electronic files, check and troubleshoot for quality, assemble for various press configurations and output plates for the press. Maintain equipment used in prepress operations.
General Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of computer operations including mounting network servers and file transfers.
- Basic knowledge of printing press operation and function.
- Proficient with Graphic Arts software including: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat), QuarkXpress, Adobe Pagemaker and Adobe Freehand.
- Proficient with Polkadots Prepress Software
- Ability to troubleshoot and fix electronic files in regard to print quality.
- Ability to trouble and fix prepress equipment to the level of basic operation.
Work Environment
Most hours spent sitting at a computer, occasionally getting up to load and bend plates. Concrete floors and variable temperatures.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to spend most time viewing a computer screen.
Work Schedule
Typically, 30-40 hours per week. It must be recognized that, due to the nature of this position, hours will vary in order to accomplish the required tasks and may require coming in early, staying late, or working weekends. It is critical that the person in this position be reliable.
