Carrie Rodriguez, Editor of the Kirkland Reporter is pleased to announce that Raechel Dawson has accepted a full-time reporting position at the Kirkland Reporter and the Bothell/Kenmore Reporter. Ms. Dawson will be replacing Matt Phelps on Monday, August 27th and will continue to report to Carrie Rodriguez out of the Totem Lake office.

Raechel Dawson developed a curiosity in a journalistic career after writing and editing her high school newspaper for three years. Her passion grew throughout college and she worked to strengthen her reporting skills by working for her college newspaper and holding internships before her graduation from the University of Washington in 2012. Dawson reported on the 2012 Washington Legislative session for the WNPA Olympia News Bureau, the Skagit Valley Herald and Crosscut.com. Her articles were picked up by news organizations statewide. Dawson then joined seattpi.com as a reporter and blogger for the Big Blog and Hot Topics blog upon completion of the Communications Olympia Legislative Reporting Internship. Throughout her time at the UW, her articles have been picked up by The International Examiner, Seattle City Living, the Ballard News Tribune and the Issaquah Press. Dawson was also the secretary of the SPJ chapter at the UW, as well as, a member of Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society.
