The Bremerton Patriot has published weekly since September 1999, and is dedicated to covering Kitsap County’s largest city. As a hub of the Washington State Ferries system, the community is a gateway to the entire Olympic Peninsula. The Bremerton Patriot gives comprehensive coverage to all aspects of life in Bremerton, including municipal government, the Bremerton School District, and the thriving downtown arts and entertainment community, among many other civic beats. The newspaper also gives comprehensive coverage of local sports and community recreation programs.
Central Kitsap Reporter
The Central Kitsap Reporter, founded in 1983, and third place winner of the 2013 WNPA General Excellence award, publishes local news every Friday covering the Silverdale, Keyport, Seabeck, Belfair, Allyn, Tracyton and Bangor communities. Silverdale, an unincorporated town adjacent to the Bangor Submarine Naval Base, includes a large military population as well as retired veterans who call the area home. Silverdale managed to enter the 21st century with some undeveloped land – pastures, roaming deer and old-time barns – and you can still find a solitary, tree-lined avenue or a quiet park; relaxing spots can be found in the Silverdale waterfront park, on the Clear Creek Trail and Island Lake County Park. With a circulation of 30,044 newspapers every week, the Reporter is popular with readers in each of the communities that make up Central Kitsap.
